The B.R.O.A.D.

Allow us to introduce you to The B.R.O.A.D. ™ (Babe Riding Out A Dream). Ursula is an inspiration, a vibrant soul, and a truly down-to-earth human being. Nailmaille® met Ursula in 2011 at a motorcycle show and became quick friends. She's a motorcyclist and people person with a knack for making strong connections. Nailmaille® was proud to have become a B.R.O.A.D.™ sponsor as she prepared for her first life-changing journey.

In 2012 she sold nearly everything she owned and in February 2013, she packed up her Harley and set-off on a nomad journey through the United States. Her plan was to witness the country via motorcycle, make a living with her Virtual Assistant business, The Write Hand, LLC, and share the entire adventure with friends, family, and followers via her blog and Facebook. She spent her days riding and working, and her nights in abandon buildings, the woods, and occasionally a friend’s couch. She has said time and again, “It was the most peace I have ever experienced in my life.”

The B.R.O.A.D. and her Heritage

On July 17, 2013 Ursula’s dream came to a screeching, crashing halt. While enjoying a beautiful day of riding in Minnesota, a young man attempting to pass a semi-truck in a deep curve hit The B.R.O.A.D. ™ head-on. Her Harley was destroyed and Ursula lay dying in a ditch. With many injuries including excessive femoral damage and lower leg damage, she slowly faded away.

The B.R.O.A.D. w/ Nailmaille BikiniLuckily for us all, she fought hard and made an amazing recovery. Doctors kick-started her back to life, performed many surgeries including a partial left leg amputation, and two weeks post-crash, she was headed home to recover. After eight months and a new prosthetic she was off and traveling again. This tour became known as "The Second Leg Journey". Ursula set off again to explore the country with a trailer she converted to live in, a pickup truck, and a 2004 Heritage Softail – YES, she rides again! Nailmaille® is proud to be allied with this tough as nails woman. Ursula says now of her tragedy, “If I had a choice of keeping my leg and never doing my journey, I’d lose the leg again. Since the moment I saw the Nailmaille® products at the Harley dealer in Illinois, I was in love with the jewelry. Through all the years, there is rarely a day I am not wearing something from my Nailmaille® collection.”

Ursula now helps us with our social media and website marketing as she takes on the next phase of life. If you haven't done so yet, check out her website www.hdbroad.com. From there you can get to her blog and sign up to follow her continued adventures and shenanigans. She's not just an entrepreneur and writer with a special perspective and knack for journey-telling, she's a true inspiration in many different ways, and a person to watch to see what happens next.
